How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when utilizing a scissor lift, since the convenience of working and the lift basket's safety gives peace of mind when attempting to carry out tasks that would have otherwise needed utilizing the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machinery make it the best alternative for performing jobs from heights.
Most scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries which have been mounted directly onto the machinery. These batteries would have to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is an easy task to charge the batteries. This can be carried out without any specialized equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
The machinery has to be parked near an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place should also be in a well-ventilated place. After that, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button found near the control box or the charger, inside the lift basket. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Normally, units which are older would have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
The AC extension cord should next be plugged into the charger. Be certain to charge in a well ventilated place and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. So as to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place when in use, extreme danger could potentially occur.
