Rough Terrain Forklift
The rough terrain forklift is recommended for applications at construction sites and other environments where there is no paved surface. This type of forklift is utilized to shuttle materials around lumberyards.

These types of forklifts are truly designed for rough terrain. Then again, the equipment is top heavy and must be carefully handled in rough locations. The equipment has to be level with all tires on the ground when lifting.

Steering is more difficult at faster speeds. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration does not set speed limitations on forklifts. Nevertheless, operators are responsible for operating forklifts at a speed that is safe, especially if driving on rough terrain and when turning.

Not raising a load while operating on an incline will avoid tipping over. The load needs to be on the uphill side of the equipment when driving up an incline. When driving down an incline, it is good safety practice to back down.
