Inventor Jerome Case founded the company of CASE in Racine, when he began the construction of threshing machines. Later the company gained recognition internationally as the first manufacturer of steam engines for its agricultural use. In time, the business grew to become the world's biggest producers of steam engines.
By 1912, Case had become established in the construction equipment business. The rapidly started to make road building machinery such as steam rollers and graders. Case grew their construction equipment company through various acquisitions, starting with the American Tractor Corporation in 1957. Case had expanded their business by the middle part of the 1990s to become the leading maker of light-sized to medium-sized construction machinery.
In 1999, Case merged with New Holland to become CNH Global. This company became responsible for marketing some of the top brands of construction and agricultural equipment in the globe.
