Forklift Accidents
Forklift mishaps are often because of the careless operation of the forklift. This happens when the operator of the forklift is not trained correctly in safety procedures. Anyone operating a forklift should always be cautious to reduce the risk of mishaps and to prevent potential dangers.

Forklift Accident Statistics:
OSHA, that is responsible for monitoring workplace safety, reports on the occurrence of forklift mishaps. Typically, every three days somebody dies in a forklift accident in the United States. Around 95,000 injuries occur in forklift related mishaps on an annual basis. The vast majority of these accidents could have been avoided if proper safety measures had been followed. There are also web sites dedicated to reporting stories of forklift mishaps.

When there are mishaps related to forklifts, both the individual and the business will suffer. There are many reasons why employers should take steps to reduce the risk. Amongst the biggest reasons is to avoid risk of lawsuits if somebody is hurt. Second, accidents cut down on working time. Third, goods and property can be damaged during accidents. The majority of mishaps are attributed to employees who are not properly trained. Employers are responsible for making certain that workers who are utilizing the forklift are trained in safety and risks. Never let anybody on a forklift who isn't properly trained to operate the forklift. Your business must develop and post in a visible place all forklift safety measures.

Rather than going through training because workers are required to, they must have a positive attitude in doing so. You as the employer should help workers know the importance of correct training. Let them know that they could kill or injure not just themselves, but other people, if they make mistakes. It is up to you to make sure that all your employees undertake training seriously.
