Caterpillar Diesel Forklifts

Caterpillar Diesel Forklifts

The type of vehicle usually found within warehouses, factories and different work sites where moving heavy materials from one location to another is required is called a forklift. The mast is the mechanism situated on the front of the forklift that hydraulically lowers and lifts the load. The "cat" is the protected area where the forklift operator sits.

Forklifts can carry loads which weigh between one to five tons. Several kinds can be utilized to lift shipping containers and much heavier loads.

Forklift tires must be checked and maintained regularly. The kinds of tires on different forklifts vary based on factors like ground surfaces, frequency of use and weight of the loads. Each and every driver of a forklift must have access to a forklift jack, tire press and replacement tires.

Tire Maintenance Instructions
You should regularly inspect the tires. Watch for signs of damage and wear to the tires. If the wear on the tire exceeds 40 percent, it should be replaced.

When purchasing tires, ensure that you are buying the correct kind - pneumatic, polyurethane or solid.

When you need to replace the tires, the forklift jack must be positioned under the tire. You could easily change the tires if you lift the forklift high enough.

To remove the damaged tire, pull the tire from the rim using the tire press. Install the new tire and properly secure it. If you are changing more than one tire and you just have one jack, lower the forklift, and after that reposition the jack at the next tire.

On-site tire repair could be performed by a repair company. If the tire is extremely big for both in-house and mobile tire presses, the damaged tire must be transported to a shop which has a stationary tire press.
